Digital Learning and YOUR Park

Explore the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park and Moccasin Bend National Archeological District

National Parks are “America’s Best Idea” and can become classrooms, inviting students, families, and lifelong learners to explore the history that the National Park Service has preserved, protected, and interpreted in communities all over the country. Our National Park is one of the most unique in the NPS system, one Park with 6 sites that tell over 12,000 years of Chattanooga’s history.

Today’s technology allows us to share that history, taking important NPS places, events, and people into YOUR living rooms and classrooms. Visitors to the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park and Moccasin Bend National Archeological District can use digital resources on handheld devices, computers, and more that can help guide them in the adventure that awaits. On-site explorers can use the self-guided auto tour to maximize adventures.

The City of Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors hosts an interactive map and park locator on its website that guides families to find parks they can explore in their neighborhoods and beyond. As America’s first National Park City, Chattanooga continues to increase the number of parks, green spaces, and maximize opportunities for families to enjoy our nature, learn from our history, and grow a strong future.

National Park Partners has introduced thousands of area children to the history of their neighborhoods, their city, and their Park through the Open OutDoors for Kids program, supported by the National Park Foundation, continuing this school year with a robust line-up of field trips, innovative resources, and interactive connection to Chattanooga’s American history.

National Park Partners, as a part of the Open OutDoors for Kids program, hosts a FREE augmented reality app that allows people all over the world to explore Chattanooga history in 3D with interactive media experiences that introduce users to the stories that tell the history of Chattanooga’s special places.

Join us as we explore all of the ways that you can connect with YOUR Park.
