Dead Men Do Tell Tales: Captain Ben Lane Posey’s Wars

  • Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center (map)

On Saturday, July 13, at 11 am, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will provide a 45-minute presentation discussing the story of 38th Alabama Infantry Captain Ben Lane Posey during the Battle of Chickamauga. Participants will meet at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center before traveling out onto the battlefield. Please dress accordingly for the weather, and a folding chair might be desirable.

Alabama lawyer Ben Lane Posey seemed to fight two wars, one on the field against US forces and the other with the Confederate high command. He kept up a steady correspondence back to Alabama, where he provided some graphic descriptions of what the soldiers in the field endured. We hope to see you on this program.
