National Park Week: Guided hikes and pop-up art sale at Cravens House!

  • Cravens House Lookout Mountain, TN (map)

In celebration of National Park Week, please join National Park Partners on Sunday, April 25 at 1 PM and at 3 PM for two leisurely paced half-hour explorations of the area surrounding the historic Cravens House.  Each moderately easy walk includes the grounds of the Cravens House as well as a short hike up the Mountain Beautiful Trail to look at the final Union and Confederate positions following the Battle of Lookout Mountain.   Due to public utility work in the area, participants must drive via Cravens Terrace Road to access the parking lot and trailhead. There is hike-in only access to Cravens House available with limited parking via Military Road and Shingle Road at this time. No registration is required.

While there, please stop by the National Park Partners’ booth and grab a poster or sticker of our locally designed and produced National Park artwork (or order online anytime HERE).

From April 17-25, the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation invite everyone to celebrate America's treasured places during National Park Week. Join the fun! With over 400 national parks across the country, National Park Week is a great time to #FindYourPark (o mejor dicho, #EncuentraTuParque), #RecreateResponsibly, and show our treasured national parks that you care. The National Park Foundation is proud to protect wildlife and park lands, preserve history and culture, educate and engage youth, and connect people everywhere to the wonder of parks

Program note: Please be prepared to wear a face mask during the hike if social distancing can not be maintained on the narrow trails or if other hiking groups are encountered along the way. Face masks are required on NPS-administered lands where physical distancing cannot be maintained and in all NPS buildings and facilities. Park operations vary based on local public health conditions. Before visiting, please check the park website to determine its operating status. Additional details are available at www.nps.gov/coronavirus. Please recreate responsibly.
