Meet General Grant at Brown's Tavern and Ferry

  • Brown's Ferry Tavern 703 Browns Ferry Road Chattanooga, TN, 37419 United States (map)

Tennessee Civil War Preservation Association, in conjunction with National Park Partners, will present Dr. Curt Fields, nationally recognized expert on Ulysses S. Grant.  Dr. Fields will present a first-person program on the life of U.S. Grant with an emphasis on his experiences in Chattanooga in 1863.  Dr. Fields has portrayed General and President Grant in 22 states and at historic sites such as the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library, U. S. Grant Boyhood Home, and National Park Service sites such as Fort Donelson, Vicksburg, and Appomattox Courthouse.  For further information on Dr. Fields see https://generalgrantbyhimself.com/.

$10 donation per adult suggested but not required.  All financial proceeds will go to the restoration of the circa 1803 Browns Tavern and Ferry by National Park Partners.  Both sites are intimately connected to the “Trail of Tears” and the October 1863 battle of Brown's Ferry.  The Tavern and nearby Ferry will be open for touring. Bring your lawn chair and cooler, meet General Grant, and make a donation to historic preservation.  For further information see https://nppcha.org/current-projects/brownstavern1803.
