On Saturday, November 4, at 2 pm, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will present a special 45-minute ranger-led program exploring how Native Americans used fire as a tool to shape the land. This program will take place at the Gateway Site, on Moccasin Bend National Archeological District, at 10 Hamm Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37405.

Native Americans used fire as a tool to help sustain them and to make their land more productive. As we look around our community, and to a larger extent, around our nation, we do not tend to recognize just how much Native Americans influenced what we see due to their use of fire. We hope you will join us on this program as we explore how Native Americans used fire as a tool in their lives. Please wear appropriate clothes and shoes for the weather. It is also recommended to bring chairs and water.
